What is Rooted in Spring?

“Rooted in Spring” is our seasonal Skill Series – a collection of workshops designed to welcome in the changing season, and reconnect you with the rhythms of Land, food, and traditional knowledge.

Each session focuses on a practical skill you can take home and continue to practice.


Easter Baking – April 4 . (Powassan Library)

Explore seasonal baking traditions and prepare classic Easter breads and treats in a relaxed, hands-on setting.

Grafting 101 – April 18 . (Powassan Library)

Learn the foundations of fruit tree grafting. What it is, why it’s used, different techniques, and hands-on how-to!

Kombucha Brewing – May 2 . (Powassan Library)

Demystify fermentation and learn how to brew, flavor, and care for your own kombucha at home.

Fruit-Tree Grafting – May 17 . (Commanda)

Roll up your sleeves and try out grafting for yourself! Participants will graft apple scions onto dwarf rootstock and leave with a young tree to grow at home.

Jelly-Making Workshop – May 30 (Powassan)

Learn traditional methods of fruit preservation and leave with jars — and the skills — to continue the practice at home.

Pasta-Making Workshop – June 13 (Powassan)

Master the basics of handmade pasta, from mixing to shaping, and gain the confidence to bring the craft into your weekly meals.
